Recommended dose
Adults
The recommended dose ranges from 500 mg to 1 g per day in several doses.
The usual starting dose for adults is 250 mg every 12 hours for the first two weeks. The maximum daily dose is 1 g.
Your doctor may change the dose of the drug depending on your age, body weight, and other factors.
Use in children and adolescents
Children over 3 years of age and weighing at least 25 kg
The recommended dose is 10-20 mg per kilogram of body weight per day in 2-3 doses.
The maximum daily dose is 750 mg.
The way and method of administration
Capsules should be swallowed whole before meals, washed down with water.
If nausea, discomfort, and abdominal pain occur after eating.

Cycloserine is used in adults and children over 3 years of age for the treatment of active tuberculosis and atypical mycobacterial infections along with other drugs, as well as for the treatment of acute urinary tract infections when the main treatment options are ineffective.
Treatment with Cycloserine is selected and monitored by a doctor, so the likelihood that you will receive more or less of it than you need is minimal.
However, if you have any doubts, consult your doctor.
Like all medications, Cycloserine can cause undesirable reactions, but they do not occur in everyone. Some adverse reactions can be serious and life-threatening.
Tell your doctor immediately if you or your child experience any of the following serious adverse reactions:
• mental disorders (confusion and disorientation in space, accompanied by memory loss, psychosis, suicidal moods, possibly with suicide attempts, character changes, euphoria, depression, increased irritability, aggressiveness);
• seizures;
• coma.
Other adverse reactions that may occur when taking Cycloserine are listed below.:
• Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) and folic acid deficiency (determined by blood tests);
reduction of hemoglobin and erythrocyte levels in the blood (sideroblastic and
megaloblastic anemia) – determined by the results of blood tests;
• drowsiness;
• insomnia;
• depression of consciousness (soporosis);
• "nightmarish" dreams;
• headache;
• muscle tremor (tremor);
• speech disorder (dysarthria);
• dizziness;
• anxiety;
• inflammation of peripheral nerves: intercostal, occipital, facial, extremities (peripheral neuritis);
• muscle weakness (peripheral paresis);
• muscle spasms, twitching (hyperreflexia);
• feeling of crawling, tingling, burning (paresthesia);
• irregular short-term spasms with rapid alternation of muscle relaxation and contraction (large and small attacks of clonic seizures);
• muscle twitching;
• memory loss;
• exacerbation of chronic heart failure in patients taking from 1 g to 1.5 g of cycloserine per day;
• increased cough;
• nausea;
• heartburn;
• loose stools (diarrhea), especially in the elderly with pre-existing liver diseases;
• increased activity of liver aminotransferases (determined by the results of blood tests);
• skin rash;
• itching;
• an increase in body temperature above 37 ° C (fever).
Do not take Cycloserine:
• if you are allergic to cycloserine or any other components of the drug (listed in section 6 of the leaflet);
• if you have epilepsy;
• if you suffer from depression;
• if you have anxiety, a pronounced state of arousal or psychosis (abnormal thoughts);
• if you have organic diseases of the central nervous system (for example, tumors);
• if you have severe kidney disease (creatinine clearance less than 50 ml/min);
• if you have acute and chronic heart failure;
• if you are an alcoholic;
• if you have porphyria (hereditary disorders of pigment metabolism).
Tell your doctor if you are taking:
• isoniazid (a drug for the treatment of tuberculosis);
• streptomycin (an antibiotic used, among other things, for the treatment of tuberculosis);
• aminosalicylic acid (a drug for the treatment of tuberculosis);
• ethionamide (a drug for the treatment of tuberculosis);
• pyridoxine (a drug for correcting vitamin B6 deficiency).
