GELENDZHIK /Krasnodar Territory/. October 6th. /tass/. Promomed Group of Companies has announced the launch of the first-in-class innovative drug for the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia. The drug is based on a short peptide similar to the natural inflammatory regulator produced in the human body, Kira Zaslavskaya, Director of new products at Promomed, told TASS at the international Bioprom forum.
Amberwin Pulmo is a bioregulator based on a synthetic peptide combined with a fragment of succinic acid. This composition provides pronounced anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, tissue repair, reduction of infectious intoxication, prevention of acute lung damage and the development of bacterial complications, " said Zaslavskaya.
She explained that the developed peptide, due to its similarity to natural regulators produced by the human body, most effectively penetrates into the right cells, overcoming physiological barriers. In addition, the drug reduces the harmful toxic effects of infectious agents on the body.
According to her, the drug was registered during the coronavirus pandemic, its effectiveness was proven based on research conducted at that time, and the drug was included in the list of clinical recommendations of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of new coronavirus infection. At the moment, its effectiveness has been proven in the framework of newly completed clinical trials in patients with community-acquired pneumonia of various origins, which were conducted under the supervision of Sergey Avdeev, chief freelance pulmonologist at the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. According to the results of the research, an improvement in lung function, an acceleration of recovery, and a decrease in the need for antibiotics were recorded.
Kira Zaslavskaya explained that the drug is produced in the form of injections and an inhalation solution, which allows it to be used at home. According to her, in the future, the use of the drug for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, wound and burn injuries will be studied. Contraindications for its use are individual intolerance, pregnancy and lactation, and childhood.
The drug is produced at the biopharmaceutical plant of JSC Biochemist. It is currently being implemented through the public procurement segment for use in inpatient treatment, explained Irina Vashkina, Director of Marketing and Sales at the Promomed Group's budget channel. "It will be available in pharmacies starting from the second half of October," Vashkina said.
