Promomed Group has received a patent for an injectable form of the antiviral drug Areplivir® (favipiravir)

Promomed Group of Companies has received a patent for an invention that protects the COVID-19 drug Areplivir^® in three forms for parenteral administration at once – lyophilizate, concentrate and powder.

Promomed was the first in the world to develop a complex and unique technology for dissolving virtually insoluble favipiravir and preparing stable injectable forms based on it.

The injectable form of the drug is characterized not only by 100% bioavailability, but also by more intensive penetration and distribution in cells, longer retention of therapeutic concentration in tissues, and the possibility of use in patients for whom tablet therapy is impossible. This is especially important when it is necessary to stop the critical development of the disease and achieve a rapid and maximum pronounced effect in already hospitalized patients.

As part of a multicenter comparative clinical trial led by Dmitry Pushkar, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, MD, Professor, member of the academic consortium of the Academic Community for the study of COVID-19, the effectiveness compared with standard therapy in hospitalized patients and the safety of using the drug Areplivir were confirmed.^® in a parenteral injection form.

The first original domestic direct-acting antiviral drug Areplivir^® He received a registration certificate for intravenous administration on November 12, 2021, and then was included in the updated, fourteenth, version of the interim guidelines "On the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of novel coronavirus infection (COVID -19)" issued by the Ministry of Health. On the same day, the first batch of the drug was shipped from the Biochemik plant (part of the Promomed group).
