A new site for the production of finished medicines in ampoules was launched at JSC Biochemik

On February 5, 2021, Denis Manturov, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and Artem Zdunov, Acting Head of the Republic of Mordovia, visited one of the largest domestic pharmaceutical enterprises, JSC Biochemik (Saransk), and launched a new ampoule production site. The state-of-the-art line with advanced equipment is located on an area of 2,700 square meters. This will double the production of finished medicines in ampoules to 15 million units per month (more than 173 million ampoules per year).

In fact, the launch of a new production facility will fully meet the needs of the Russian healthcare system for drugs for the prevention and treatment of viral diseases. According to the minister, the new line at Biochemistry is an invaluable contribution of the Russian industry to the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.

"Among other things, the production of anticoagulants that are in high demand for the treatment of the new coronavirus infection will be carried out here: sodium enoxaparin and calcium nadroparin," Denis Manturov explained. "As soon as the company reaches full capacity for these drugs, it will be possible to say about the completion of another important nationwide stage in the deployment of production of drugs necessary for the treatment of not only covid, but also many other diseases."

According to Peter Bely, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Promomed Group of Companies, which includes the Biochemik plant, an ampoule line of this capacity is capable of solving most of the acute problems that arise with the supply of low-molecular-weight heparins to the country, which are in high demand during the pandemic.

He also noted that the launch of the new production facility was largely due to the cooperation of JSC Biochemik with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the targeted loan provided by the Industrial Development Fund in September last year. "Also, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the production of substances for the production of antibiotics was organized, which made it possible to establish uninterrupted production of full-cycle antibacterial drugs and solve the strategically important task of ensuring drug independence from foreign suppliers," Petr Bely emphasized.

After the launch of the new ampoule production, Denis Manturov and Artem Zdunov congratulated the plant's staff and presented departmental awards to the company's employees. "This is not only a powerful scientific and production project, but also an important social project for our republic," said Artyom Zdunov. – These include new jobs, higher salaries, and increased tax revenues, which we turn into social benefits for people. We have big plans for the development of the plant, but the main thing is that we are moving dynamically and correctly."

At the end of the official part of the event, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Acting Head of the Republic of Mordovia left entries in the Book of Honorary Guests of JSC Biochemist wishing success in the development of the enterprise.
