The vast majority of overweight or obese people have impaired carbohydrate metabolism. It has been proven that obesity is a risk factor for developing cardiovascular diseases, stroke, type 2 diabetes and many other pathologies. The drug Reduxin® Forte was developed by PROMOMED taking into account the information obtained in research on the use of drugs for the treatment and prevention of type 2 diabetes and obesity in routine clinical practice, also in accordance with the needs of the medical community.

The drug Reduxin® Forte is a fixed combination of sibutramine (10 or 15 mg) and metformin (850 mg) in one tablet. Sibutramine is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor with central action. When taking it, appetite decreases, eating behavior normalizes, thermogenesis and energy consumption in the body increase, which contributes to significant weight loss, including due to visceral fat, resulting in improved lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. Metformin lowers glucose levels, increases the sensitivity of insulin receptors, enhances glucose utilization by cells, reduces gluconeogenesis in the liver, and also has a positive effect on lipid metabolism by lowering cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL.  The simultaneous use of metformin and sibutramine will ensure the intensification of treatment of patients with obesity and other metabolic disorders, which meets the criteria for effectiveness, taking into account the impact on the prognosis of cardiometabolic outcomes. And using a fixed combination in one tablet will provide the patient with a convenient and gentle regimen of taking the drug and increase compliance.
