The event was held in the presence of Chief Federal Inspector Mikhail Sezganov, Rector of the Mordovian University (Ogarev Moscow State University) Sergey Vdovin and representatives of the press. They were shown how the first stage in the production of an antibiotic is carried out. The process begins at a small reactor, and six days later, the plant's specialists have several grams of the substance in their hands.

Recall that Vancomycin– a popular antibiotic effective in the treatment of endocarditis, sepsis, bone and joint infections, lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, was previously produced from foreign raw materials. However, the Biochemist plant, which is actively participating in the import substitution program, managed to obtain a domestic substance of the drug in the laboratory this summer.
This is a landmark event: the achievement will reduce the dependence of the domestic pharmaceutical industry on foreign medicines, because antibiotic substances are still imported into our country from the United States and the European Union, which contradicts the interests of Russia's national security.

At the end of August, the Head of Mordovia, Vladimir Volkov, while reporting to the President of Russia on the implementation of an innovative project for the development and production of domestic antibiotics in Saransk, presented Vladimir Putin with a sample of Vancomycin. The President wished the plant's specialists success in implementing this important task. And now the first pilot batch of the substance has seen the light. The stages of research, certification and industrial production are ahead.
"Humanity is already living 20 years longer thanks to antibiotics. And there will be no human development without new drugs. Biochemist has started producing substances of the most modern antibiotics," Pyotr Bely, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PROMOMED Management Company LLC, commented on the plant's achievements.
"By December, we will be happy to welcome everyone at the new facilities, where new and upgraded equipment will be operational and where the first industrial kilograms of substances will be produced," said Vasily Kuptsov, Head of the Substances Development Department at PJSC Biochemik.

By the end of the year, the plant plans to start production of 4 substances of the latest generation of antibiotics.
In three years, the company plans to master 1 billion 200 million rubles of investments in the fermentation area. The Antibiotics engineering center, created by Biochemist in cooperation with Ogarev Moscow State University, is already operating at the plant. University graduates are successfully working on drug development. It is planned to open a specialized department on the basis of Biochemistry. I will be recruiting biologists, chemists and doctors to the new scientific department.
