The latest educational and scientific laboratory of chemical and pharmaceutical technologies has been opened at the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Mordovian State University. The event was attended by the Head of Mordovia, Vladimir Volkov, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry Alexander Sedov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PROMOMED Group of Companies, Peter Bely, Rector of Ogarev Moscow State University, Sergey Vdovin, students, young scientists and university teachers.
The opening of this laboratory is part of the implementation of the national Science project in the Republic of Mordovia, which was approved by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin "On national goals and strategic objectives for the development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024."
The need to create a laboratory was discussed a year ago. As a result of the joint efforts of JSC Biochemist and Moscow State University. Ogarev's idea has become a reality. The plant's management allocated 1 million rubles. These funds were used to purchase state–of-the-art equipment, thanks to which students can now reproduce and thoroughly examine almost all stages of drug production - from the synthesis of the active substance to the production of the finished product. The laboratory's capabilities can be used not only by students studying in the field of Chemical Technology, but also by those who study Pharmacy at a Medical institute.
As the Head of the region noted, this unique laboratory will improve the level of training of students: having come to the enterprise with ready-made specialists, they will now be in demand. "We analyze how many students work in their specialty. Graduates of this university have no problems finding employment. Students know that there are places for them," Vladimir Volkov emphasized.
Currently, the issue of the development of the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the task of providing the population with domestic medicines, is one of the main goals of the state policy of the Russian Federation. Responding to the course of import substitution outlined by the President of Russia, Biochemik JSC has been conducting a range of various scientific, production and personnel activities for a long time.
It should be recalled that in December 2016, during a visit to Saransk by the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova, a trilateral agreement was signed on the establishment of the pharmaceutical research and production center "Antibiotics" on the basis of Biochemik. Its main task is the production of domestic antimicrobial substances. The implementation of the project will reduce the country's dependence on imported medicines. The main result of the NPC's activities was the launch of Russia's first full-cycle production of the antibiotic Vancomycin.
The rapid development of the plant has increased the need for qualified specialists in the republic. That is why in 2018, at the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Mordovian State University, on the initiative and with the technical assistance of Biochemist, the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Physiologically active Substances was established. This year, the first graduates of this department will join the company. In addition, Biochemist motivates students of the Chemical Technology Faculty of the university to study well by paying them a factory scholarship.
"The opening of a joint educational and production laboratory with the University of Mordovia is a fundamentally important step for Biochemik. Today, the main thing for the country's pharmaceutical industry is to produce original medicines. The creation of such medicines is impossible without the synthesis of substances. It is this laboratory that allows for all the necessary scientific research, experiments and developments in the field of synthesis. Students who choose this direction will have an excellent opportunity to consolidate their theoretical knowledge in unique laboratory conditions," said Peter Bely, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PROMOMED Group of Companies.
After visiting the educational and scientific laboratory, the guests talked with young scientists from Mordovian State University. Issues related to the development of cooperation between Ogarev Moscow State University and industrial enterprises of the republic, as well as details of the implementation of the national Science project in the region, were discussed.
