On October 28, the head of Mordovia, Vladimir Volkov, held a working meeting with Peter Bely, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promomed Group of Companies. Issues related to the operation of the Biochemist plant were discussed, including the production of medicines necessary for the treatment of coronavirus infection.

First of all, Vladimir Volkov noted the importance and timeliness of the decision taken by Russian President Vladimir Putin to provide free medicines to patients with coronavirus undergoing outpatient treatment. More than 5 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes, the head of state ordered them to be allocated immediately. This was done in order to reduce the burden on hospitals so that the lightest patients, which is 70% of all cases, could be treated at home.

"This is a fundamental decision that will help us in our work, it will help to radically expand all treatment related to covid," the Head of the Republic emphasized.

Pyotr Bely said that during this difficult period of the fight against the pandemic, the plant used all its capacities, significantly increasing the production of medicines in demand by medicine. The Biochemistry production line was urgently redesigned, the key areas were the direct–acting antiviral drug Areplivir and antibacterial drugs - the plant produces them in a very wide range (about 30 names, including Azithromycin, which is in demand in the fight against covid).

Biochemist is the only manufacturer in the country that produces Azithromycin in injectable form. We are currently satisfying all health care requests," Petr Bely emphasized.

This response to the challenges of the time has become possible thanks to technological modernization and good staffing of the enterprise.

"Our staff has changed significantly, and the team has been rejuvenated: graduates of the Ogarev Moscow State University and our distinguished fellows work at the plant. Many have already made a career, run structural divisions, and their work is well paid," said Petr Bely.

"It is very good that young people come to the production," Vladimir Volkov emphasized. "Even 10 years ago, our industrial enterprises were aging, but now they are getting younger."

It was noted that the average salary at the plant is also growing, it is already significantly higher than the national average.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of investment projects and the commissioning of new production sites, which will create additional jobs and ensure further wage growth at the enterprise.
