Inna Yurievna Svyatenko, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, visited the Biochemist plant in Saransk as part of the participation in the All-Russian Visiting Conference on the Development of Healthy Longevity Medicine.
During the visit, Inna Yurievna got acquainted with the work of one of Russia's largest enterprises for the production of active pharmaceutical substances (APIs). The capacities of the AFS workshop, which was inaugurated in 2023 by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, allow for the production of up to 340 tons per year. Today, substances for the medicines most in demand by the healthcare system, both for medical and veterinary use, are produced here. On the day of the visit, for example, the substances apalutamide and ticagrelor were being developed.
Inna Yurievna noted the importance of the country's own competencies and technological capabilities to ensure the production of medicines in a full cycle, starting from the stage of synthesis of the active substance molecule. This reduces the dependence of the domestic market on external challenges and guarantees uninterrupted access to therapy for citizens.
The Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council was also able to assess the high-tech equipment, the organization of production, the quality control system and the professionalism of the team at the automated tablet and capsule production site in the workshop for the production of solid dosage forms.
"Innovative developments and modern manufacturing play an important role in strengthening the country's medicinal sovereignty, which is important for solving the tasks of developing healthy longevity medicine in the country.",
