The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia has agreed on the maximum selling price for a drug for the treatment of COVID-19 with the international nonproprietary name favipiravir. According to the decision of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the cost of the medicine will be 100 rubles per tablet.
PROMOMED Group sent a package of documents required for the state registration of the price of Areplivir (the main active ingredient is favipiravir) to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation last week. As noted in the FAS statement published on October 16, the overall reduction in the marginal selling price of the drug was more than 50%, which increases its accessibility to the Russian population. PROMOMED Group considers the set price to be a serious contribution to the maintenance of the state drug supply system.
"Since Areplivir received its permanent registration certificate on September 17, 2020, the situation with the spread of COVID-19 has noticeably worsened. Today, more than ever, people are in dire need of an effective, safe and high-quality drug for coronavirus infection. Under the current conditions, the availability of medicines plays a key role both in the preservation of everyone's health and in the development of the economy as a whole," said Andrey Mladentsev, Chief Executive Officer of PROMOMED Group.
It should be noted that this is the first time when the maximum selling price for a drug was set by members of the Commission of the Ministry of Health at the stage of including the drug in the list of essential essential medicines (VED).
PROMOMED Group is one of the leaders of the domestic pharmaceutical industry in the production of anti-infection drugs with its own scientific and production site of JSC Biochemik in Saransk. The company's portfolio includes more than 100 names of medicines, 80% of which are included in the list of VED.
