The team of PROMOMED's Intellectual Property Directorate has won the LEGAL TO BUSINESS AWARDS. The award ceremony, organized with the support of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, took place on February 27, bringing together leading lawyers from all over the country. The expert jury, which included representatives of the judicial corps, government authorities, the academic community and professional consultants in the field of jurisprudence, recognized the achievements of the PROMOMED team as the best in the "Intellectual Property" nomination. Interest in this nomination is growing year by year, reflecting key business priorities in an increasingly complex legal environment. This year, the distinguished jury selected the winner in the nomination from 13 outstanding works and noted the high level of competition.
The LEGAL TO BUSINESS AWARDS is a prestigious event aimed at recognizing the outstanding contribution of inhouse lawyers and legal inhouse teams to business development in Russia. This year, for the first time, the award was held at the federal level to recognize the brightest professionals from different regions of the country, whose competencies and innovative approaches set high standards in the legal industry. The victory in the nomination related to the protection and commercialization of intellectual property confirms PROMOMED's status as a Company for which the legal protection of innovations is an integral part of its development strategy.
PROMOMED implements a full cycle of pharmaceutical production, from the development of a molecule to the finished dosage form. Its own research center allows the Company to develop more than 150 new drugs and annually replenish its portfolio with modern medicines, which already includes over 360 items. Such intensive research activity requires building a reliable system for protecting the results of intellectual work.
A systematic approach to managing intangible assets is already producing tangible results. PROMOMED is among the TOP 10 Russian patent holders in the field of pharmaceuticals according to the Eurasian Patent Office. In recent years alone, the Company has received more than 80 patents for inventions, including new molecules, dosage forms, innovative formulations and production technologies, which are complex objects of patenting that require special knowledge and the highest level of qualification from inhouse patent attorneys. The portfolio of trademarks that provide reliable protection against copying of the Company's brands has exceeded 550 positions, many of which were specially selected based on marketing research and focus groups. These achievements have become the foundation for the successful launch of innovative drugs on the market, including for the treatment of viral diseases, diabetes and obesity.
"Intellectual property, which used to be considered a rather specific field, today rightfully occupies a worthy place among all legal areas. In the pharmaceutical industry, its importance for business cannot be overestimated: worldwide, intangible assets account for up to 90% of the total value of the largest pharmaceutical corporations. Five years ago, PROMOMED made a strategic decision to create a full-fledged Intellectual Property Directorate, and I was honored to lead it. During this time, our team has been able to implement many unusual projects for the Russian market," notes Maria Porokhnya, Director of Intellectual Property at PROMOMED
