"Visionary approach and participation are necessary to address global pharmaceutical safety challenges, including the fight against the pandemic. This means that only with the joint responsible work of all participants in the pharmaceutical market will the complexities of the coronacrisis and its consequences be overcome," said Kira Zaslavskaya, Director of New Products at Promomed Group, during the meeting "Seasonality and Covidity of the Pharmaceutical market" organized by the Russian Pharmaceutical Marketing Association (RAFM).

As part of her speech, the speaker analyzed the main challenges and trends that characterize the current situation for various participants in the pharmaceutical market — from pharmaceutical manufacturers to patients, including such an important link as pharmacy chains.

The development of ideas about the features of the pathological effect of the virus is changing approaches to therapy and, naturally, is reflected in the development of various drugs and in the pharmaceutical market as a whole. "It is necessary to achieve maximum openness of information about the effectiveness of various therapies. All Promomed clinical trials have been published in peer-reviewed publications, and all of them are available to the global medical community. We are ready for discussions and criticism, and we consider it necessary to raise awareness among all participants in the pharmaceutical market," Kira Zaslavskaya emphasized.

Covid can give an impetus to the development of the Russian pharmaceutical industry towards the creation of innovative and generic drugs. The existing state support programs are designed to increase the innovativeness of the Russian pharmaceutical industry. Projects that stimulate cooperation between various pharmaceutical manufacturers, the creation of clusters, and collective use centers can become elements of this program. This will increase the effectiveness of the development of original Russian medicines, including for the treatment of complications of coronavirus infection — neurological, cardiological, autoimmune and other socially significant diseases.

The crisis has increased the burden on all participants in the pharmaceutical market, including pharmacy chains. They are faced with a situation of sharply increased demand not only for medicines, but also for consultations on the choice of drugs. "Promomed Company holds a huge number of different educational events, including non-promotional ones, for medical workers and pharmacy workers. We provide comprehensive financial and research support to Russian educational institutions whose activities are aimed at training personnel for the pharmaceutical industry for the further development of Russian scientific potential," Kira Zaslavskaya also noted, giving examples of the most important areas for cooperation and mutual support of pharmaceutical market participants.
