On New Year's Eve, Minister of Health Veronika Skvortsova congratulated industry representatives from the pages of Meditsinskaya Gazeta and summed up the progress made in 2018. Among the main achievements, Veronika Igorevna noted the large-scale medical examination of the population, which helped to reduce the mortality rates of Russians; the expansion of the federal program for the provision of medicines to patients.
By the way, it was last year that Russians finally received the domestic reserve antibiotic Vancomycin (before that, the raw materials for this drug were purchased abroad, which contradicts national security standards). This pharmaceutical breakthrough was made by the Saransk Biochemist plant. In February 2018, Veronika Skvortsova visited the company and launched the first full-cycle production of the latest antibiotics in the Russian Federation, from the producer strain to the finished product.
In September, as noted by the "Medical Newspaper", the Minister of Health, as Chairman of the Council for Cooperation in the field of Healthcare of the CIS, held a meeting in Saransk, which brought together representatives of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan. The council members visited the Biochemist plant and got acquainted with the production conditions, as well as the powerful potential of the enterprise. In the coming 2019, Biochemist will continue its policy of import substitution and ensuring the pharmaceutical safety of the country. Mordovian scientists are working on the synthesis of fifth-generation antibiotics. The industrial production of substances of the latest antibiotics of the glycopeptide range is planned to be launched at the end of the first quarter of 2019. Biochemist is also starting to develop drugs that help in the fight against cancer.
The coming year will be truly epochal for the plant and the entire pharmaceutical industry of the country.
