At the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, Promomed Group of Companies signed four strategic partnership agreements with Russian universities. The agreements are aimed at training highly qualified personnel for the pharmaceutical industry. Peter Bely, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promomed Group, and Oleg Yanushevich, Rector of the Moscow State Medical University named after A.I. Evdokimov, answered the questions of the RBC journalist.
— Pyotr Alexandrovich, it's quite a significant day, both today and yesterday. You have signed a number of agreements with universities — two with Moscow universities, two with regional universities. Tell us, what is the peculiarity of these agreements, why were these universities chosen, and how important is it for you today to train young people?
Peter the White: We consider it important to train industrial specialists. To train people who will be directly involved in the synthesis of new substances and the production of medicines. To train people who are so lacking in our industry with specialized education and with industrial experience gained right in the course of education.
This is a very important philosophy for the faculty. Today we have come up with a new industry, for which we are already training new people. Today, these guys, while still students, are already implementing the latest synthesis technologies, and in the future they simply continue to work with them.
The Biochemist plant of the Promomed Group of companies is a very large domestic pharmaceutical company. manufacturer. We have three types of synthesis of substances — chemical, microbiological, and biological. More than ten types of therapeutic forms of medicines, 250 names of medicines, 80% of which are included in the list of vital and essential medicines. Production is constantly being upgraded, and, of course, it requires a new generation of specialists who have new knowledge and who are trained in real production conditions.
We have great needs for specialists. They are measured by hundreds of places for people with higher specialized education, and hundreds of places for people with secondary specialized education. By the way, in the Republic of Mordovia, we have implemented a large-scale project to train middle-level specialists, what used to be called professional technical education. The pharmaceutical industry needs these specialists and we have significant experience in training such personnel.
— Oleg Olegovich, you have now signed a cooperation agreement with Promomed Group of Companies. What do these agreements mean for the university?
Oleg Yanushevich: We have opened two faculties: pharmacy and medical cybernetics. The agreement will ensure the recruitment of students in these two areas this year. At the same time, all this year, when we were preparing for this agreement, it determined the preparation of the faculties themselves — the recruitment of staff, the preparation of curricula, the formation of the trajectory of students. This is a very important point.
