One billion tablets per year will be produced by a new workshop, which was opened on Saturday at the Biochemik plant in Saransk (Mordovia). The Ministry of Health emphasizes that the new technological site will produce strategically important medicines that are important for the technological sovereignty of the country and reduce dependence on foreign supplies.
Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, addressed the participants of the ceremony with a welcoming speech.
"We see that the Russian pharmaceutical industry and manufactured medicines meet the highest quality standards. The pharmaceutical industry responded to the challenges of COVID-19 in a timely manner and as soon as possible established the production of drugs that saved thousands of lives of our citizens. I would like to express my confidence that the inclusion of a new production site among Russian pharmaceutical manufacturers will allow us to become more confident, this will be the key to the development of healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry in Russia as a whole," said the head of the Ministry of Health.
It is important that medicines will be produced here in a full cycle. The technological chain includes facilities for the fermentation of active pharmaceutical substances, a full cycle of production of low—molecular-weight heparin substances, and production sites for the manufacture of chemical and oncological substances. Production facilities in Saransk produce both tablet and injectable forms of medicines.
The production of substances is one of the most difficult to ensure the environmental safety of the environment. From this point of view, pharmaceutical production in Saransk meets the highest requirements: the construction of the country's largest complex of wastewater treatment plants using the most modern technologies is currently being completed here.
