The biopharmaceutical company PROMOMED announces its entry into the pharmaceutical market of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Company's strategic decision was a step-by-step process with an emphasis on high-quality innovative medicines. Endocrinological drugs Velgiya® and Quintenta®, designed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and correction of overweight, are already available in pharmacies in Uzbekistan.

In addition, PROMOMED is already working with endocrinologists, reproductive specialists and other leading specialists of the republic to launch a program to combat obesity. Together with the Ministry of Health, the Company plans to organize educational programs for doctors and patients.

According to WHO, today the average body mass index (BMI) in Uzbekistan is 26.5 kg/m2; for women, it is 1 kg/m2 higher than for men. This is the highest rate in Central Asia. In the event of a further increase in the problems associated with overweight, analysts predict serious economic losses by 2060. It is estimated that the total damage will reach 21.6 billion US dollars. In terms of each resident of the country, this will amount to approximately $ 490, and on the scale of the entire gross domestic product — about 4.7%.

"We expect that we can become a reliable partner and support for the healthcare system in Uzbekistan. We see a well—founded interest on the part of the patient community and the state in the latest pharmaceutical developments," said Alisher Zakirov, Head of the PROMOMED Group Representative Office in the Republic of Uzbekistan. — Our goal is to offer modern innovative drugs to the healthcare system of Uzbekistan and thereby make a significant contribution to improving the standards of therapy by offering doctors and patients modern scientifically based solutions. We're starting with Endocrinology, but our plans for new product launches are much broader."

As part of its long-term strategy, the Company intends to significantly expand its presence by consistently including the latest drugs for the treatment of diabetes and obesity, as well as medicines for the treatment of cancer, in its supply portfolio.

Today, the pharmaceutical market of Uzbekistan is developing along an innovative path. According to the PharmXplorer analytical system, in the segment of medicines, there is a redistribution of consumption towards more modern and effective drugs, despite the influence of inflationary factors. This creates a favorable environment for the emergence of innovative products and opens up significant potential for mutually beneficial cooperation with the local medical community, regulatory authorities, distributors and pharmacies.

The first packages of Velgia® and Quincenta® have already been delivered to pharmacies and medical institutions in Uzbekistan.
