The document provides for combining efforts and scientific and technical potential in the field of the production of active pharmaceutical substances (APIs) for a number of vital and essential medicines (VED), including Azithromycin and Favipiravir (the main active ingredient of the drug "Areplivir"). Both drugs are included in the guidelines of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for the treatment of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
According to the agreement, Active Component will produce the required volume of active pharmaceutical substances for finished medicines produced by PROMOMED. So far, the list includes 9 names of substances. According to Dmitry Zemskov, Executive Director of JSC Biochemik, which is Promomed's production base, along with an increase in the volume of its own production of substances, the signed agreements imply special conditions for the supply of APIs at a price lower than imported analogues. "Thus, we will be able to fully realize our production potential for the production of drugs, including for combating coronavirus infection, as well as diversify risks and ensure independence from foreign suppliers," he explained.
In turn, Alexander Semenov, President of Active Component JSC, noted that "the organization of joint work and the uninterrupted supply of pharmaceutical substances will make it possible to protect patients with coronavirus infection from a shortage or an increase in the price of medicines."
PROMOMED Group is a leader in the domestic pharmaceutical industry in the production of anti-infection drugs with its own scientific and production site of JSC Biochemist in Saransk. The company's portfolio includes more than 150 names of medicines, 80% of which are included in the list of VED.
JSC "Active Component" was established in 2006 and specializes in the production of high-quality active pharmaceutical substances using the latest technologies and equipment. The company's activities are focused on the development and creation of original APIs for individual orders from pharmaceutical companies. The production facilities are located in St. Petersburg and range from 80 to 210 tons of API per year. The current product range includes 57 substances.
