PROMOMED Group donated more than 1,000 packages of Areplivir for free for the treatment of doctors in the Saratov region

On December 18, 2020, as part of the implementation of the all-Russian Areplivir - Doctors program, a delegation from PROMOMED Group visited the Saratov Region. During the visit, the company's management met with Roman Busargin, Chairman of the regional Government, Oleg Kostin, Minister of Health, representatives of government authorities and chief doctors of Saratov medical institutions.

 

According to official data, as of December 18, more than 31.8 thousand cases of COVID-19 infection were recorded in the Saratov region. Of these, 2.7 thousand are diseases among doctors working in hospitals specializing in the treatment of coronavirus infection. It was for them that PROMOMED Group donated more than 1,000 packages of the latest antiviral drug free of charge to the regional Ministry of Health.

 

The head of the regional Government expressed gratitude to the company for taking care of the health of Saratov doctors. "Areplivir has already shown its high effectiveness and safety in the treatment of coronavirus infection and is now being transferred to us so that doctors working in the "red zones" can save as many lives as possible. This is a worthy and really good example of the interaction between the state and socially responsible business," said Roman Busargin.

 

According to Andrey Mladentsev, Chief Executive Officer of Promomed, ensuring the health of doctors who are at the forefront of the fight against the epidemic is the company's priority. "Our charity program Areplivir for Doctors has already been successfully implemented in many Russian regions and thousands of lives have been saved," he explained.

In turn, Olga Radaeva, MD, Professor of the Department of Immunology, Microbiology and Virology at the Ogarev Moscow State University Medical Institute, allergist and immunologist, said that it is very important to start taking the drug at the initial stage of the disease in order to prevent the disease from becoming severe. "Areplivir is recommended by the Ministry of Health for outpatient therapy, and the dose-adjusted prescription of the drug can also be considered as a preventive measure for COVID-19," she noted. In addition to its direct antiviral effect, the drug reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack during the rehabilitation period."

 

Representatives of regional medical institutions also noted the positive experience of using Areplivir, and Sergey Arenin, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security and representative to the Federation Council from the executive branch of the Saratov Region, suggested considering the possibility of using the production facilities and scientific and technical potential of the Saratov region to create several pharmaceutical projects in the region at once. "We must create growth points here and establish uninterrupted production of the latest and innovative medicines. There are all possibilities for this today," the senator concluded.
