The biopharmaceutical Company PROMOMED has received a registration certificate for the drug Tirzetta® (INN tirzepatide) in Kyrgyzstan. Up to this point, medicines with this active substance have not been registered in the country. Thus, doctors and patients get access to a completely new class of therapy.[1]

Tirzepatide is the first in its class dual agonist of GLP-1 and GIP receptors. Due to the simultaneous activation of two receptors, the drug reduces appetite, helps to reduce body weight mainly due to adipose tissue, and also helps to keep blood glucose in the target range.

"The problem of overweight in Central Asia is pronounced, and Kyrgyzstan is no exception. According to estimates According to the WHO in 2024, 56% of the adult population of the country is overweight, compared with the global average of 45%. Between 2020 and 2024, the indicator increased from 52% to 56%, which corresponds to an increase of about one percentage point annually. The scale of the problem is further confirmed by national and international studies. By data According to the World Federation on Obesity, 17% of Kyrgyz women aged 15-49 were obese and 27.2% were overweight. Registration of tirzepatide in Kyrgyzstan opens up new prospects for the treatment of relevant diseases and allows expanding the pool of solutions available to doctors in their daily clinical work."

Eduard Kasyan

Executive Director

PROMOMED produces full-cycle tirzepatide at the site of the Biochemist enterprise in Saransk. Due to the use of modern technologies, the drug contains no preservatives, including phenol and benzyl alcohol, which can accumulate in the body during prolonged therapy and potentially provoke undesirable effects.
