Putin opened new pharmaceutical enterprises via video link in St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad and Saransk.

The Head of State noted that, in general, the pharmaceutical industry in Russia is showing positive dynamics. The President outlined increasing the share of domestic medicines in the market and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers as promising tasks.

"Steady, rhythmic work [of the pharmaceutical industry] is of great importance for the whole country, in particular for providing citizens with affordable, high-quality medicines. It is important for us to increase the production of Russian substances and increase the share of domestic drugs in the domestic market, including original ones," Putin said.

The President stressed that in order to fulfill these tasks, it is necessary to modernize equipment, build new production facilities, improve technologies, as well as increase human resources and research potential.

The launch of three new pharmaceutical production facilities also meets these goals. Thus, the Otis Pharma Pro plant, which is opening in Kaliningrad, will produce a wide range of sought-after medicines: antibiotics, antiviral, immunomodulatory, analgesic, nootropic and mucolytic drugs.

In Saransk, at the site of JSC Biochemik, the launch of the production of pharmaceutical substances for 130 names is being prepared. These include anti-cardiovascular and oncological diseases, HIV, anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants.

The opening of the Pharmasynthesis-Nord plant in St. Petersburg, in turn, will increase the production of biotechnological pharmaceutical substances and drugs for the treatment of oncological and autoimmune diseases. In addition, the production of genetically engineered insulins and vaccines against coronavirus will be launched there. Sputnik Lite.
