PROMOMED — Animal Health, a Russian pharmaceutical company, announces the launch of a new domestic veterinary drug, Amklav®.Vet[1][2] is a broad—spectrum combined antibiotic for the treatment of bacterial infections in cats and dogs. Amklav®Vet was created at the PROMMED Group's production facilities on a full-cycle basis: from the substance to the finished dosage form.

Amoxicillin and clavulanic acid, which are part of the drug, are the "gold standard" in the treatment of pet diseases caused by various bacteria. PROMOMED — Animal Health is the first domestic Company that has implemented a full—scale study to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of Amklav®It is effective in relation to field strains of various bacterial groups. The scientific work was carried out jointly with the leading veterinary laboratory "POISK" under the leadership of Svetlana Viktorovna Shishkanova and the Laboratory of Medical Bacteriology of the St. Petersburg Pasteur Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology under the leadership of Lyudmila Aleksandrovna Kraeva, MD, Corresponding member of the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences and Arts. The study included 142 reference and field bacterial strains isolated from cats and dogs with diseases of various bacterial origin. To obtain the profile of the isolated pure bacterial cultures, which were then used in the study, the modern MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry method was used, which ensures the most accurate identification of microorganisms.

The results of the study showed that Amklav®Vet has a high antibacterial activity against 90% of the isolated bacterial strains. All strains of Staphylococcus pseudointermedius isolated from dogs and cats, as well as Pasteurella multocida, were highly sensitive to the drug. For Escherichia coli, the sensitivity in dogs was 93.3%, in cats — 65%, which corresponds to world practice and trends in the formation of resistance in this bacterium. The drug has demonstrated full compliance with EUCAST standards for antimicrobial activity and identical efficacy of both the active ingredient mixture and the finished dosage form.

Amklav®The Vet has already gone on sale. The drug is available in a convenient oral form with a unique range of dosages — 50 mg, 100 mg, 250 mg and 500 mg, which allows veterinarians to select individual therapy regimens depending on the body weight and health status of the animal. Due to the taste appeal, pets take Amklav®Living without additional stress is especially important when it comes to taking antibiotics.

The drug is used for skin diseases, urinary tract infections, respiratory and gastrointestinal infections, as well as other bacterial diseases caused by sensitive microorganisms. The therapeutic effect is achieved 12 hours after taking the drug, and the course of treatment is usually 5-7 days.

"The results obtained once again confirm the high standards of our Company in the development of drugs for pets," said Natalia Guseva, Head of Business Development at PROMOMED — Animal Health LLC.
