A new drug for targeted etiotropic therapy of COVID-19 based on nirmatrelvir and ritonavir, created by Promomed Group using a unique technology, received a registration certificate on April 21, 2022. Skyvira is from a new generation of drugs, the drug attacks completely different targets specific to the coronavirus. Clinical studies confirm its maximum effectiveness.

Skyvira® will replenish the arsenal of doctors in the category of drugs for the treatment of patients with new coronavirus infection on an outpatient basis. The drug is designed to prevent the complicated course of the disease and hospitalization, accelerate recovery and minimize the severity of the postcovoid syndrome.
"Clinical studies have shown a pronounced antiviral effect of a new drug for the treatment of COVID-19, reducing the risk of disease progression to more severe forms and accelerating recovery. The targeted mechanism of action on the viral protease determines the success of treatment regardless of the SARS-CoV-2 strain. At the moment, Promomed's Skyvir drug can be indicated for outpatient treatment of mild or moderate coronavirus infection in adults," said Vladimir Chulanov, Chief freelance Specialist in Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Deputy Director for Research and Innovative Development at the National Medical Research Center for Phthisiopulmonology and Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation..
"Despite some lull in the dynamics of COVID-19 incidence, and it seems that the pandemic in our country has receded, the medical community agrees that SARS-Cov-2 in one form or another will remain with us forever. The most common strain of stealth omicron has almost mixed symptoms with the usual acute respiratory viral infections, but the severity of complications and post-covid syndrome is currently the highest. Future pandemics may become even more dangerous, deltacron and other modifications of the virus are already actively predicting. All this dictates the need for doctors to have a wide range of etiotropic therapy drugs in their arsenal. Each new drug in Promomed's antiviral portfolio provides an opportunity for a more personalized approach to patient therapy, taking into account concomitant pathology, drug interactions, duration of symptoms, etc., and therefore more effective treatment," commented Kira Zaslavskaya, Director of New Products at Promomed Group.
Skyvira® is a combination of two active ingredients: nirmatrelvir and ritonavir. Nirmatrelvir is an inhibitor of viral protease, an enzyme that is necessary for the virus at the stage of formation of whole particles for its reproduction. In other words, the new drug completely blocks the process of virus reproduction inside the cell. Ritonavir, acting as a pharmacokinetic enhancer, ensures long-term maintenance of the required concentration of nirmatrelvir in the body and increases the effectiveness of therapy.
For the treatment of COVID-19 in adults, a daily dose of 600 mg of nirmatrelvir + 200 mg of ritonavir (1 tablet 2 times a day) with a duration of treatment of 5 days is indicated. It is recommended to start treatment as early as possible after the diagnosis of a new coronavirus infection and/or within 5 days after the first symptoms of the disease appear.
