The event was chaired by Yuri Kalinin, Chairman of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry Commission of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and President of the Rosmedprom Association. In particular, during the meeting, he noted: "This is the first time we are holding today's meeting on the site of Mordovia. This happened after the Head of Mordovia, Artyom Zdunov, addressed the President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. We responded because Mordovia is famous for its historical traditions in the development of the pharmaceutical industry, as well as for its advanced technologies in the production of antibiotics (about 300 names of which are included in the list of vital medicines). The pharmaceutical industry of the republic is moving towards new frontiers with great strides; Mordovian University is training personnel for this industry."
Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), who participated in the VKS, noted in his greeting that the work of pharmaceutical enterprises in the face of sanctions had been coordinated, and the proposals and recommendations made at today's meeting would form the basis for measures to implement the strategy for the development of the pharmaceutical industry until 2030. "Our priority now is to ensure the drug independence and national security of the Russian Federation through the production of strategically significant, proprietary original drugs," Shokhin added.
Sergey Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in turn, thanked the leadership of Mordovia for the high level of organization of work, and also noted the merits of domestic manufacturers, thanks to which there was no shortage in the pharmaceutical market during the period of sanctions pressure. "Mordovia is famous for its pharmaceutical industry, its enterprises operate at the highest level," he added.
"Pharmaceuticals has always been and will always be one of the leading industries in our republic.
