Murat Kerefov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, visited a number of regional industrial enterprises during a working trip to Mordovia on June 9. At JSC Biochemist, one of the country's leading pharmaceutical plants, he got acquainted with the work of a high–tech line of a new site for the production of tablets and capsules.

For several years, the plant has been operating in full compliance with international GMP quality standards, specializing in the development and production of almost any innovative drugs and dosage forms. Six workshops are equipped with high-tech equipment, which makes it possible to produce more than 250 types of medicines, 80% of which are on the vital list. Last year alone, about 80 million packages of medicines for various purposes were produced here. In March of this year, Biochemistry opened production of active pharmaceutical substances with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Now the plant is one of the largest employers in the region, employing about 1,500 employees.
Dmitry Zemskov, Director of Information Policy at Promomed Group, introduced the delegation to two sections of the new tablet and capsule production facility. "One of the sites produces two well–known drugs in Russia – reduxin and migrenium," he said. "The medications used for weight loss and pain relief have proven themselves well."
The new site with a capacity of one billion tablets per year has been operating since December last year. More than 1.6 billion rubles have been invested in this project. It produces original, full-cycle medicines developed in its own research center – antitumor, antiviral, endocrinological, neurological and antibiotics. Strategically important drugs are being produced at the new site, including in case of termination of supplies from foreign companies.
Promomed Group of Companies is a recipient of state support. Concessional financing through loans from the Industrial Development Fund attracted about 2 billion rubles last year alone, and investments in fixed assets exceeded 5 billion rubles. By the middle of 2023, investments have already reached almost one billion.
The delegation of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation also told about the plant's participation in the national project "Labor Productivity and Employment Support" – the biochemist became one of the first enterprises in Mordovia to join the national project. A workshop for the production of ready-made medicines in ampoules was chosen as an experimental site. During the year of participation in the project, the volume of drug production at one production site alone doubled to approximately 15 million ampoules per year.
