The President of the country highly appreciated the policy of import substitution at Biochemistry

At the plenary session of the Media Forum of Independent Regional and Local Mass Media "Truth and Justice", which was held in Sochi on 05/16/2019, a journalist from GTRK Mordovia asked a question to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He referred to the development of the import substitution program in the pharmaceutical industry of the country using the example of the production of antibiotics of the latest generations of JSC Biochemik.

Answering a question from a journalist, Vladimir Putin said: "As for import substitution, this is one of our key tasks." "I am very pleased that they are exporting, and we will certainly support such production. Last year, we invested 620 billion in import substitution in industry alone. To a large extent, this went to the defense industry, but we also supported and will definitely support this type of production, there is no doubt about it. To do this, appropriate rules are adopted within the country on the use of certain drugs. Certain benefits and preferences are being created. It is only important to ensure the quality of products and enter the markets of third countries. Then it will be an international product. This is what we will strive for. For our part, we will help you enter and explore these markets. We have a whole program in place to support such high-tech exports, exports with good added value."

The company is actively supported by the regional authorities.

The head of Mordovia, Vladimir Volkov, commenting on the words of the President of the country, noted: "Indeed, thanks to the import substitution program initiated by the President of the Russian Federation, our oldest plant Biochemik has found a new life, a new breath. Today it is a state–of–the-art enterprise, which has opened the first production of the latest antibiotics in Russia, from the producer strain to ready-made medicines. We appreciate the President's help, and therefore we will increase our contribution to ensuring the country's drug safety."

JSC Biochemist is one of the leaders in the Russian market for the production of medicines. A key area of activity is the creation and production of the latest generation of Russian antibiotics.

In just over three years, the company has achieved great success: workshops, laboratories have been built and modernized, and capacities for the creation and production of the latest medicines have increased.

Every year, the plant registers about 20 medicines of various groups and forms. Over the past 9 months, 13 drugs have received registration certificates. Among them, the first in the country is the generic Doripenem. In 2019, 17 more antibiotics will receive registration documents.

JSC Biochemist does not intend to stop there. The company will continue to develop confidently and solve the tasks set by the President of the country on import substitution and increasing the export potential of Russia.
