On August 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the development of the manufacturing industry. When it came to pharmaceuticals, Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry of the Russian Federation, recalled that three new enterprises had recently been opened with the participation of the head of state in Saransk, Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg.
"They will reach full capacity by the end of the year," the minister noted. "This will add volume, and we can already see that the pharmaceutical and medical industries have been gradually recovering since May."
Vladimir Putin participated via video link in the opening of new pharmaceutical production facilities, including in Saransk, at the end of March this year.
At that time, Vladimir Putin identified increasing the share of domestic medicines in the market and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers as promising tasks.
"The steady, rhythmic work of the pharmaceutical industry is of great importance for the whole country, in particular for providing citizens with affordable, high-quality medicines. It is important for us to increase the production of Russian substances and increase the share of domestic drugs in the domestic market, including original ones," Vladimir Putin stressed.
The head of Mordovia, Artyom Zdunov, drew the attention of the head of state that the opening of production was preceded by the active development of medicines by Russian, Mordovian scientists. "We want to fully ensure the independence of the state in this area and exclude the use of substances in foreign laboratories," the head of the republic explained.
The new workshop produces pharmaceutical substances of 150 names. These include molecules for the manufacture of antitumor drugs, synthetic antibiotics, antiviral drugs and muscle relaxants.
Currently, the issue of establishing a Federal center in the republic is being worked out jointly with the Federal Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Ministry of Health. In addition, by the end of the year, Saransk will have a high—tech production facility in the form of lyophilizers, and in 2024, a site for the production of pre-filled syringes.
