PROMOMED's Tirzetta® (Tirzepatide) is the first Russian competitor to the well-known and not available in Russia drug Mounjaro.
The first batches of the drug Tirzetta® (Tirzepatide) from PROMOMED went on sale in the Russian Federation. Even now, doctors in our country can prescribe a new generation of drugs to patients for effective weight loss or diabetes treatment. In a matter of days, the drug will be available on online pharmacy resources, primarily in large pharmacy chains throughout the country.
The revolutionary effect of the drug Tirzetta® consists in a new quality of weight loss – a marked reduction in the volume of adipose tissue while carefully preserving the muscular corset and forming a physiologically correct, "beautiful" silhouette.
Oksana Drapkina, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution NMITS TPM of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Chief freelance Specialist in Therapy and General Medical Practice of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Professor, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation noted:
"Obesity is a growing public health problem, leading to the development of other diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, which are among the top ten causes of death in the world. The search for new drugs to solve the problem of obesity is necessary to improve the health and increase the life expectancy of the population.
Tirzepatide has demonstrated efficacy in reducing body weight, as well as in reducing the risk of developing diabetes mellitus, progression of dyslipoproteidemia, coronary heart disease, hypertension and their complications.
The first domestic tirzepatide (Tirzetta) provides our patients with direct access to world-class innovations. It is a breakthrough drug for combating obesity and diabetes. And its potential includes applications in the treatment of rheumatological, cardiological, neurodegenerative and other diseases."
Tirzepatide, the active ingredient of the drug Tirzetta®, is a new class of incretins that activates two receptors regulating metabolism at once – GLP-1 and GIP. Their combined effect ensures greater selectivity of the mechanism of regulation of metabolism, levels of insulin and glucose in the blood and the metabolic rate in the tissues and organs of the body. As a result, body weight decreases mainly due to the acceleration of the metabolism of adipose tissue reserves.
Tirzetta® is available as a solution for subcutaneous administration (in dosages: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg and 15 mg) in user-friendly intuitive automatic injectors.
Ilya Bardin-Denisov, General Director of PROMOMED DM LLC, comments: "Today we are one step closer to an insulin-free future and healthy longevity for patients with obesity and type II diabetes. The "drug of tomorrow", Tirzetta®, has been introduced into civil circulation and is available for use in our country.
The launch of Tirzetta is a consistent and very important step in the implementation of our strategy, announced during the IPO in July 2024, aimed at defeating the most life–threatening diseases - obesity, diabetes, cancer and superinfections."
The evolution of incretin analogues (physiological regulators of metabolism and appetite) through the consistent creation of drugs based on liraglutide, semaglutide and tirzepatide is a global trend and allows, perhaps for the first time in history, to slow down and even reduce the prevalence of obesity and related diseases at the level of entire states[1].
Tirzetta® has added to the Company's in-demand endocrinology portfolio (Reduxin®, Reduxin® Forte, Enligria®, Quintenta®, Velgia®), which allows specialists to select the appropriate drug taking into account the characteristics of each patient. As scientific and clinical practice data accumulate, some application niches are being specified without reducing the overall potential for each drug.
Global practice shows a threefold increase in patients receiving incretin treatment. At the same time, the share of tirzepatide in doctors' prescriptions for new patients has almost equaled semaglutide, and in the United States it has already reached 51%.
According to the analytical company AlphaRM, the market of drugs for weight loss in the Russian Federation in 2024 amounted to 17 billion rubles, demonstrating an increase of more than 2 times. According to statistics from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, today the number of overweight patients in the country is 44 million, and a change in therapeutic approaches determines the growing need for drug therapy. PROMOMED implements advanced pharmaceutical and technological solutions, increases its leadership and plans to maintain a share of more than 50% in the rapidly growing obesity and diabetes market, which, according to expert estimates, will amount to about 100 billion rubles by 2030. In the market of tyrzepatide, the Company has gained a large lead over competitors, including the respected Lilly company, and is aiming for 70% of the molecule market by the end of 2025.
