On December 2, a document was signed in Saransk on the establishment of Russia's first Scientific and Production Engineering Center, Antibiotic. The solemn event was attended by Veronika Skvortsova, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Tatyana Yakovleva, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsyb, Director of the Department of State Regulation of Medicines of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Arsalan Tsyndymeev, Head of the Republic of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov, Minister of Industry, Science and New Technologies of Mordovia Alexander Sedov.

 

The ceremony took place on the territory of the Biochemist plant. The company's management, in the presence of officials, signed a trilateral agreement with the Government of the Republic and the Mordovian State University. Ogareva.

 

The document launched the creation of a truly unique center. The new company will be engaged in technological, economic and legal analytics in the field of antibiotic production; registration of intellectual property; development of drugs – from substances to finished dosage forms. The Center will also train scientific, industrial and managerial personnel capable of performing specific pharmaceutical tasks.

 

The scientific base of the project will be the Mordovian State University, and the production facilities will be provided by the oldest Saransk antibiotic manufacturing plant Biochemik.

 

Assessing the importance of the project, Veronika Skvortsova stressed: "A new modern production facility is being created that will provide the whole country, because its capacity is very large — it contains millions of doses of necessary drugs with the most modern antibiotics. Moreover, we will be absolutely self-sufficient and independent of foreign substances."

 

In turn, the Head of Mordovia, Vladimir Volkov, said that the project is of strategic importance for the whole country. In fact, the new company solves the problem of import substitution in the pharmaceutical sector and meets the interests of national security.

 

The heads of the Biochemist plant demonstrated to officials the results of the modernization of existing production, presented the tablet production site, which was put into operation a year ago, and showed the construction site of a new workshop for the production of liquid medicines in ampoules, vials and pre-filled syringes. As the representatives of the plant explained, they set themselves the task "with the support of the republic to make further substances from the molecule, from the laboratory idea."

 

"In fact, we are talking about the reconstruction of the national scientific and production base for the production of full-cycle antibiotics at Biochemistry," Veronika Skvortsova commented on what she saw.

 

Currently, PJSC Biochemik employs more than 1.5 thousand specialists, the company produces more than 100 types of medicines, 70 percent of them are from the list of vital ones.
