More than 1.8 billion rubles have been invested in the project, and antiviral, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, heparoprotective, and HIV drugs will be produced in the workshop.
TASS, December 17th. A new tablet shop with a capacity of 1 billion tablets per year, where, among other things, it is planned to produce HIV drugs, was launched on Saturday in Saransk at the Biochemist plant (Promomed Group). Investments in the project exceeded 1.8 billion rubles, the Biochemist's press service told TASS.
"Dear friends, I am glad to welcome you at the opening ceremony of the new workshop of the Biochemist plant's production site. I would like to express my confidence that the inclusion of a new production site among Russian pharmaceutical manufacturers will allow us to become more confident and will guarantee the development of healthcare in general and the pharmaceutical industry in particular in the Russian Federation," Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said in a video message on the occasion of the workshop's opening ceremony.
According to the press service, the workshop will produce antiviral, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, heparoprotective drugs, HIV drugs, and in the near future, the production of drugs in the form of sachets will be launched.
"This is one of the most modern production facilities in Europe, where vacuum transfer technologies are used instead of human labor. The production is equipped with the most modern technologies, including for the manufacture of multilayer and composite tablets produced in conditions of photosensitivity and zero humidity. The production of strategically important drugs is planned, including in case of termination of supplies of foreign pharmaceutical companies, according to the instructions of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation," the press service said.
The production capacity is 1 billion tablets per year. Investments in the project amounted to more than 1.8 billion rubles.
Technological sovereignty
As experts noted during the opening ceremony of the workshop, the creation of such productions ensures the technological sovereignty of the country.
"The workshop that we have opened today ensures the technological superiority of our country over other countries and pharmaceutical manufacturers. As a scientist, I am pleased and delighted that the company is based on scientific research, it is at the forefront of science: 190 drugs are at various stages of registration and clinical trials, including original medicines developed by our scientists," said State Duma Deputy, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Health Fedot Tumusov. "With such discoveries — production facilities, new workshops — we prove to Russia and the whole world that we are capable of being completely technologically independent on any issues. We can purchase the necessary equipment, train people, go all the way to protect intellectual property, the bureaucratic way," said Artem Zdunov, the head of Mordovia.
Sergey Glagolev, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, noted that the opening of such production facilities would saturate the market with high-tech tablets that were developed using fundamentally new technologies for the whole world. "We have seen the opening of a workshop that actually digitizes the production of medicines, takes them to a fundamentally new level, makes the mechanism for creating solid dosage forms controllable, scalable and allows you to adapt in the shortest possible time to changing market conditions and healthcare needs. This is not only a victory, but also a proof of our strength, our creative talent in responding to external challenges," Glagolev said.
Promomed Pharmaceutical Company was established in 2005 and is engaged in the development, production and promotion of medicines. Biochemist is part of Promomed Group of Companies and is located in Saransk.
