By Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 3885-r dated December 19, 2025, PROMOMED was authorized to produce a vital medicinal product with the international nonproprietary name (INN) semaglutide. This solution will provide Russian patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and conditions associated with obesity with modern therapy within the framework of approved medical practice.

Semaglutide is an analog of the human hormone GLP-1. Its action is aimed at key links in the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus: the drug promotes a physiological decrease in blood glucose levels, increases cell sensitivity to insulin, and also helps control body weight by influencing saturation centers. This makes semaglutide-based therapy the modern standard of treatment. The production of semaglutide is organized by PROMOMED in a full cycle — from the substance to the finished dosage form, which guarantees stable supplies and independence from foreign manufacturers.

The fight against diabetes is one of the key priorities of the state today. Within the framework of the national project "Long and Active Life", the federal project "Combating diabetes mellitus" is being implemented, aimed at increasing the life expectancy of patients by increasing the availability and quality of medical care. PROMOMED fully supports the goals of this project. Diabetes is not only a serious problem in its own right, but also a risk factor for developing cardiovascular and other dangerous diseases. According to forecasts published in The Lancet, by 2050, up to 60% of the world's adult population may face the consequences of obesity, including diabetes.

Currently, the patient community has a high demand for semaglutide. The issuance of a permit for the release of semaglutide is a significant contribution to ensuring the technological sovereignty of the Russian Federation, which was approved by the President as one of the national development goals of the country in the Concept of Technological Development for the period up to 2030.

The development of the endocrinological drugs portfolio is one of the key priorities of PROMOMED. The company is consistently working to create and market innovative medicines that meet the urgent needs of the medical community and patients. Today, the company presents on the market the products of Quincenta®, Velgia®, Velgia® Ivf, and recently launched the sale of Russia's first tablet form, Semaltara®.
