Russian President Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with the Head of the Republic of Mordovia, Vladimir Volkov, yesterday. The head of the region informed the President about the socio-economic situation in Mordovia. In particular, he reported to the President on the implementation of a unique project for the development and production of domestic antibiotics at the Biochemik plant. A sample of the first Russian substance of a new generation of antibiotics ("Vancomycin") Vladimir Volkov informed the head of state that the scientific and production center "Antibiotics" (NPC) had been established in the republic on the basis of the Biochemik plant and laboratories of the Mordovian State University to develop the latest medicines. By the end of the year, the company will start producing four types of substances, and in February 2018, the plant will start producing a full cycle of domestic antibiotics of the latest generations, from the substance to the finished product.
"Well, congratulate the people who did it," Vladimir Putin said.
Let us remind you that PJSC Biochemik is currently undergoing a global modernization.
In 2015, a new owner, PROMOMED, came to the plant, and large–scale reconstruction and construction began. Currently, Biochemist is a dynamically developing company that successfully participates in import substitution and innovative development programs. Today, production volumes have increased by 162 percent compared to 2015, labor productivity by 25.5%, and exports by 10%. The laboratory base has expanded, and new personnel have joined the company.
In two years, more than 5,000 square meters of production space have been reconstructed and put into operation at the plant, and the equipment fleet has been updated by 60 percent.
In the coming years, the company plans to bring about 170 new drugs to the market, most of which are antibiotics, and production capacity is expected to increase by more than three times.
PJSC Biochemist sets an ambitious goal – to contribute to the national, drug safety of the country. Full-cycle production will reduce the dependence of the Russian pharmaceutical industry on foreign drug manufacturers.
