At the September 16 consultation "Healthcare. A look into the future" with the report "The future of Russian pharmaceuticals – science and industry. Import Substitution" was addressed by Peter Bely, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promomed Group of Companies.

He outlined five main directions for the development of innovative drug therapy in the country and outlined concrete steps to implement this concept.

"The first one. We have excellent experience in the rapid withdrawal of innovative drugs that appeared during the pandemic. If we manage to extend and expand the mechanism of the 441 government decree, which allows for the rapid withdrawal of domestic innovative medicines, we will be able to achieve the same tangible results in other therapeutic areas.

Prices. Only domestic innovative medicines, which are made without additional additional costs, can solve the problem of effective and affordable drug supply. It is necessary at the political level, at the level of the state vision, to make sure that innovative domestic medicines are given the way.

Third, it is a domestic substance. It is very important to direct all efforts to ensure that every domestic manufacturer of medicines has its own production of the substance.

The fourth aspect is very important to us. The connection between industry and education. Continuous education of doctors is necessary. An innovative drug may appear. We need to ensure that knowledge about domestic innovative drugs reaches the professional environment very quickly. And we, as the pharmaceutical industry, are ready to do a lot for this. We are ready to create programs.

Fifth, and this is also an important topic — helping children. We need to prioritize innovative medicines for children at the state policy level and motivate domestic companies to register pediatric medicines along with the most advanced medicines for adults.
