PROMOMED and the Almazov National Medical Research Center signed a cooperation agreement at the St. Petersburg Medical Innovation Forum.

Within the framework of bilateral cooperation, the Almazov National Research Medical Center and PROMOMED will join forces in the field of healthcare development in the Arctic regions of Russia. The key threats here remain the high level of daily stress, leading to a decrease in life expectancy, an increase in morbidity and disability of people of working age[1]. The significant lag between the Arctic regions of Russia and the national indicators is recorded in the Strategy for the Development of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation and Ensuring National Security for the period up to 2035, approved by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated October 26, 2020 No. 645.

Evgeny Shlyakhto, General Director of the Almazov National Research Medical Center, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, noted that metabolic health is one of the biggest problems in the world, the solution of which lies in the synergy of efforts of modern science, education, digitalization and innovative developments in the pharmaceutical industry. The cooperation between the Center and PROMOMED is aimed at finding solutions aimed at reducing the impact of risk factors on workers and residents of the Arctic regions of the country.

"With the development of international logistics links and the construction of the infrastructure of the Northern Sea Route, the Arctic regions of Russia are becoming a center for attracting specialists from a wide variety of production areas. However, taking into account the harsh climatic conditions, the polar day-night and other external factors, new approaches to the long-term adaptation of the population, to the preservation of its general and especially metabolic health, are required. Major studies on the health of the population of the Arctic regions have not been conducted for several decades. Therefore, we are now launching a large-scale research project that involves an in-depth study of the general and metabolic health of Arctic residents. The study will allow us to develop practical pharmaceutical correction options to improve the quality of life of the population of the Arctic regions of Russia.",

Experts stressed that the study includes several stages and will last until 2028.
The Federal State Budgetary Institution "V.A. Almazov National Medical Research Center" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation is one of the leading multidisciplinary scientific, clinical and scientific educational medical centers in Russia, employing about 8,500 employees and annually training over 4,000 specialists.

The basis of the Center's activities and development strategy are to combine fundamental and applied research in the field of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, hematology, rheumatology, endocrinology, oncology, pediatrics, neurology and neurosurgery, molecular biology and genetics, cellular and information technologies with the provision of multidisciplinary specialized, including high-tech, medical care to the population and training scientific, pedagogical, medical personnel and secondary medical personnel within the framework of continuing medical education.

PJSC PROMOMED is a leader in promising segments of the pharmaceutical market, and holds the first positions in Russia in terms of the number of medical studies conducted. The Company's product portfolio includes more than 360 drugs, and more than 150 are at various stages of development and registration. The Company's main areas of work are concentrated in key areas such as endocrinology, oncology, neurology, orphan and autoimmune diseases. The company was the first in Russia to introduce innovative solutions in the field of metabolic health. New generation drugs such as Tirzetta® and Velgia®Ivf, which has become a blockbuster, is used to treat type 2 diabetes and obesity. These are the only drugs in Russia that have been successfully manufactured in the convenient form of disposable auto-injectors. This format reduces the risk of error when choosing a dose and increases the convenience of use.

An additional advantage of the dosage form is the absence of preservatives, which helps to increase the safety of therapy. Research data show that the restoration of metabolic health is associated with a reduction in the risk of complications and may contribute to an increase in active life expectancy.
