The Government decree confirmed the feasibility of releasing the first domestic semaglutide in Semaltara® tablets from PROMMED

The signing of Government Decree No. 1208-r dated 05/23/2026, issued in accordance with Article 1360 of the Civil Code, confirmed the expediency of PROMOMED Group's release of the first domestic semaglutide in tablet form Semaltara®. The decision was made in connection with the "extreme necessity related to the protection of the life and health of citizens," and is aimed at providing Russians with drugs with the international nonproprietary name semaglutide.

The permit provides for the possibility for PROMOMED Group to use patents related to the production of tableted semaglutide until December 31, 2027 without the consent of the copyright holder, Novo Nordisk. PROMOMED remains the only Russian company to continue the line of injectable semaglutides with the innovative Velgia IVF preparation in disposable injectors, and recently expanded this line with a newly developed tablet form under the Semaltara® brand.

The tablet form is ideal for patients who are not ready for semaglutide injections, expanding therapeutic possibilities in endocrinology, providing patients and doctors with a new effective tool for complex metabolic correction and maintenance of achieved results, including weight control, after completion of injection therapy.

Oral semaglutide demonstrates high efficacy in the treatment of type 2 diabetes due to its multidirectional effect on metabolic processes and pronounced effect in weight loss. The tablet form allows for continuity of therapy and increased adherence to treatment, including in patients experiencing psychological discomfort from injections.

Semaltara® is produced in a full cycle, including the synthesis of the substance, at the PROMOMED plant of JSC Biochemist. Localization of production ensures the stability of supplies and contributes to strengthening national drug safety.
