Sfumata, used for the treatment of HIV infection, has received a registration certificate, becoming the second drug in the Promomed Group's antiretroviral portfolio.

One of the most important strategic directions in the work of Promomed Group, focused on solving significant medical problems, saving and significantly improving the quality of life of patients, is the development and production of drugs aimed at treating major global diseases, including the human immunodeficiency virus.
"The HIV epidemic in Russia can be stopped only through the joint efforts of representatives of science, medicine and pharmaceutical market players, so our company does not stand aside. Antiviral therapy is the key to the success of treatment of patients with HIV infection, helps to increase the duration and maintain the quality of life of patients. The release of the new drug is an important step forward for Promomed towards the development of a line of drugs for the treatment of HIV," said Kira Zaslavskaya, Director of New Products at Promomed Group.
Sfumate (Atazanavir) belongs to the class of protease inhibitors (PI) and acts by blocking HIV protease. The drug differs from other protease inhibitors in that it less often causes abnormal changes in adipose tissue, thereby reducing the likelihood of lipodystrophy in patients. This is one of the preferred drugs for the treatment of HIV infection in pregnant women, as it is one of the most studied and safe IP during pregnancy, if the potential benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus.
The drug is included in the WHO "Approximate List of essential medicines", and is also included in the list of VED.
Sfumata will be available in capsule form in dosages of 150, 200 and 300 mg, which corresponds to the required intake regimens.
