PROMOMED Biopharmaceutical Company announces expansion of therapeutic indications of AMBERVINE® Pulmo (INN: hexapeptide succinate). The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has approved a new indication for the use of the drug in the complex therapy of community-acquired pneumonia.

The drug AMBERWIN® Pulmo was developed on its own PROMOMED technology platform and is an innovative bioregulator from the class of short peptides. It is a synthetic analogue of leu-enkephalin, a natural peptide that has anti—inflammatory and vasoprotective effects, prevents and reduces the severity of acute lung damage, reduces the risk of reduced oxygen supply and the development of secondary bacterial complications.

The decision to expand the indications is based on the results of a multicenter, blind, randomized, comparative, placebo-controlled trial. In the course of scientific work, the high effectiveness of including the drug in the treatment regimens of hospitalized patients with community-acquired pneumonia has been confirmed[1]. Thus, by the 10th day of therapy, the number of patients with clinical treatment in the AMBERWIN® group The pulse was 52% higher than in the placebo group. The severity of symptoms, in particular the frequency of coughing, decreased by 62%. The new drug reduced the need for prolonged use of antibiotics: by the seventh day, the need for further antibiotic therapy was 2.8 times less frequent compared with the control group.

"The clinical efficacy and safety of the drug as part of the complex therapy of community-acquired pneumonia have been proven by the conducted research. Due to its mechanism of action, the drug is suitable for all patients with pneumonia. Given the significant clinical and economic burden of community—acquired pneumonia, as well as the high mortality rate in risk groups, the drug can become an important component of therapy regimens that improve the outcomes of this disease," said Sergey Avdeev, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Department of Pulmonology at the Faculty of Medicine of the I.M.Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. chief freelance pulmonologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

Pneumonia continues to be a significant cause of disability and high mortality among vulnerable groups: the elderly and patients with chronic diseases. Antibiotic resistance is a critical issue, leading to the need for new antibiotics and innovative solutions in the pneumonia therapy market. The volume of the global pneumonia therapy market in 2024 amounted to 2.71 billion US dollars. The market share is projected to grow at an average annual growth rate of 8.10% and reach $4.68 billion by 2031.

The inhalation form of release allows for therapeutic effects directly in the alveolar cells. Taking the drug increases the effectiveness of antiviral and antibacterial therapy for infectious lung diseases.

For the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia, the drug AMBERWIN® Pulmo is recommended to be used by inhalation for a course of 10 days. The optimal dosage is 11.6 mg once a day.

* The drug is a prescription drug, has contraindications and should be purchased only as prescribed by a doctor. Please read the instructions before use.
